This project was done with the Young Performer’s Edition of Wizard of Oz on the mainstage at Georgetown Palace Theatre for one weekend, January 18-20, 2019. This project started during my abroad trip to London and was completed several weeks after I returned. I designed the set and projections for each scene with a limited budget.

Preleminary Designs and Concepts

The design idea for this production was to give it the look of an illustrated children’s book. Being a children’s production and based on a children’s novel, I thought it would be fitting to make the scenes like illustrations. The rough edges of the set were there to give a visually interesting appearance and give a distinct look for the land of Oz compared to that of Kansas. Because of the limited budget and labor, the design went through many iterations to keep it as visually interesting for low cost.
